When looking for vegan options in the furthest reaches of Cape Town (i..e Noordhoek) one doesn’t have to look too far!
I ate at the Foodbarn Restaurant for a birthday celebration (in my pre-vegan days) and was blown away. I literally rolled out of the restaurant – the food literally never stopped coming!
The Foodbarn Restaurant has a Vegetarian Menu that “changes with the mood of their markets”, which I can only assume means that it is seasonal. And the word “vegan” immediately pops out!
Their current menu offers:
- confied tomato, aubergine and avocado tian, basil salsa, red pepper & chili syrup (R150 or -50% on weekday lunchtimes)
- sweet potato mousseline, tender leaves, gomasio, soy syrup & sriracha drops (R150 or -50% on weekday lunchtimes)
Phone or email ahead to ask if they can cater for your needs and they’ll be happy to create a customized vegan menu with some forewarning. Chef Franck Dangereux is a master of his craft and promises delicious and decadent food.
Definitely worth visiting for a ‘casual fine-dining’ treat!
