Posticino has been an Atlantic Seaboard institution since 1998 and a regular haunt of mine since moving to Cape Town seven years ago. I recently had lunch there again with well-known endurance athlete and certified health coach, Gary te Roller, the brains behind theĀ Plantdurance brand.

We were looking for something healthy, and of course… vegan, as Gary is 100% plant-based and I’m well… I’m more of a junk food vegan!
While there are not OBVIOUS vegan choices on the menu, you can rest assured that Posticino is more than willing to help you construct a pizza or pasta that is in line with your dietary requirements.
On arrival, the manager welcomed us with open arms, and our waitress who was super friendly made sure she got our order 100% correct.
Our starter was (a go-to) Greek Salad without the feta and Gary tucked into a Posticino Pizza (mushrooms, olives, asparagus, green peppers and artichokes without the cheese) on a gluten-free base and had my favourite which was a Napoletana Pasta (also gluten-free).
Your first reaction is going to be – “Yes, but these are obvious choices when going to an Italian restaurant,” and my response would be… “Yes, but…” – their ingredients are FRESH, they are super FRIENDLY and HELPFUL and vegan diets are welcomed. Plus: they have a tried and tested reputation of being consistent in how they serve their customers in and around Sea Point.
Why mess around with restaurants that aren’t willing to feed us! I know where I’m going again!
Peace xx
