Who would have known that in Caledon, 100km east of Cape Town, there lies an eatery with vegan options?!
Address: Shop No.18A, Victoria, Hoop St, Caledon
Hours: 8am-10pm Mon-Sun
Fat Henry’s Pizzeria claims to have the best pizzas in the Western Cape. Whether that’s true or not – let’s just be grateful that there is something on that side of the world that is brilliantly priced.
The two options are:
Vegan Pizza: aubergine, marrow, mushroom, pepper, cherry tomato, spinach (R55 medium, R65 large) and
Vegan Burger and Salad (R50)
One of my readers, Colleen, told me she took a bike ride out to Fat Henry’s. This is what she had to see:
“The staff and owner were fantastic when we showed up en masse with no warning and were completely happy to accommodate everyone’s different food choices, even offering to go to the shop to get stuff we asked for that they didn’t have. If you are in the area and looking for vegan options definitely pop in and don’t be shy to ask for things you are not sure about or want to be changed. They are eager to learn and please.”
Thanks Colleen for the photo too!
Dankie, Henry! Next time we road trip that way, we’ll have to come say hi!
Peace xx

Do we know if their pizza uses vegan cheese?
