The Courtyard Café is a relaxed quality eatery with a sheltered courtyard in Kalk Bay. Located between Artvark Gallery and The Kalk Bay Theatre on Main Road, The Courtyard Café has both inside and outside areas, some of which overlooks bustling Kalk Bay and the ocean beyond. Their menu includes a large and interesting salad selection, vegetarian and vegan options, and some treats for those with a sweet tooth.

Having been recently (for a rather sober bachelorette’s luncheon) we were very spoilt for choice with their extensive vegan offering:
Lunch
- Lebanese Aubergine Bowl – cumin, coriander & cinnamon aubergine w/tomatoes on lemony couscous (R75, add falafels +R27)
- Falafel Pita – falafels, hummus, red cabbage & carrot on a toasted pita (R78)
Salads
- Red Quinoa – ask for the vegan option (small R47, large R82)
- Lentil – ask for the vegan option (small R47, large R82)
- Beetroot – w/granny smith apples, coriander, black sesame seeds & raspberry vinaigrette (small R32, large R50)
- Red Cabbage Slaw – red cabbage, carrot, radish, fresh mint & coriander w/raspberry vinaigrette or sesame & apple dressing (small R32, large R50)
Protein
- Vegan Sausages – Fry’s preservative-free and non-GMO meat-free sausages (small R20, large R40)
Burgers
- Vegan Burger – homemade patty w/lentils, barley & mushrooms (R95)
Sandwiches
- Hummus, Beetroot, Sprout & Mixed Seeds on Toasted Bread (R58)
- Moroccan-spiced Carrot Dip, Celery, Cucumber, Pickled Red Onions & Sesame Seeds on Toasted Bread (R58)
Sweets
- Apple, Cranberry & Walnut Crumble – nutty crumble with coconut milk (R50)
- Date Balls – made w/toasted coconut, dates, almonds & cashew nuts (gluten-free) (R10)
Definitely worth a trip to the “other side of the world.”
