Have you ever been to a place that just WORKS? This is one of those places. If you’re a hardcore biker you’ll feel at home. If you’re a family with little kids it’ll work too. Business meeting? Absolutely. The Green Point Gays? (well… it worked for me – although I’m from Sea Point, and we’re slightly less fussy). Millenials who really only care about the aesthetic? Definitely. It’s all this and way more.
Address: 43 Wesley St, Strand
Hours: 7:30am-10pm Mon-Sun
The Café Racer (in its new location) is the brainchild of Christalla and Cammy Fernandes and Chef Jan Kruger – an unlikely pairing with an extraordinary result! So what is it EXACTLY? Technically it’s a vintage-style café that serves breakfast, burgers and tacos but with an attention to detail that will put this place on the map! All the dishes on the menu are linked to “bike terminology” or history thereof, which – as I am sure you can imagine, I am an EXPERT. (I literally cannot tell you the difference between rugby and soccer. What kind of car is that in front of me? Erm.. a blue one!)
Chef Jan Kruger is all about taste AND texture. And if one doesn’t work – then the dish is not worthy of being served. I like Jan. He has my vote.
So let’s cut to the important bit, the vegan options. There are currently two on the menu and they are EXCEPTIONAL. If the demand for them increases, more items will be added to the menu #justsaying.

Make sure to try their signature blend of Clock-Out Coffee, even if it’s just to take away.
Parking is a cinch as it’s one road away from the beachfront, walk-ins are welcomed and there is WiFi aplenty for the millennials (… and bloggers… like me).
Solid. Trust me.
Peace xx
