We are very familiar with online shops such as Faithful to Nature or Wellness Warehouse but I feel it needs to be said that the ORIGINAL queen (and king!) of the vegan-friendly online shopping legacy has to be Mary-Ann’s Emporium.
Mary-Ann and Mark Shearer are pioneers in the vegan world, having made a lasting impact on the vegan community in Cape Town through their work on programmes such as 100 Days to Health (which I am currently trying!), their workshops and DVDs as well as their restaurant (which is one of my personal favourites). But… they also sell their own brands of products which you can purchase from their walk-in store in Gordon’s Bay or from their website online.
I’m going to confess that I am slightly hooked! You are so spoilt for choice in terms of beauty/personal care items, vegan education material (books, DVDs etc.), food items galore, health products and even home and kitchenware. Most of what they stock is made in their factory so you can be assured of products that are only of the utmost quality. Any other products they stock (that are externally manufactured) are ones that they personally believe to be of value to one’s health and well-being.
If I had to RANDOMLY share my top picks they would have to be:
- Book: Perfect Health, The Natural Way by Mary-Ann and Mark Shearer
- Gluten-Free Products: Gluten-Free Bread Mix (1kg)
- Salts and Seasonings: 3-Salt Pack (Herb Salt, Garlic & Herb Salt, Seasoning Salt)
- Sweets and Snacks: Carob & Coconut Bar, Carob-Coated Turkish Delight and Carob-Coated Cashew Fudge (MY BEST!)
- Health Products: Barleylife Capsules and Herbal Fiberblend Capsules
I have personally tried/tested/used EACH of these products and they are INCREDIBLE. I have one issue though: their snacks are so bloody addictive. I literally can’t have them in the house because I just think about them the whole time. I’m thinking about them now. It’s not good. But it’s soooooo good.
Check out their online store HERE or head through to Gordon’s Bay and have some lunch while you’re there! You want to know more about their buffet lunch? Read THIS.
