Review – Bacini’s, Gardens

In 1994, Bacini’s moved to the Mother City, setting up shop in both Rondebosch and the bottom of Kloof Street before finding its home at no. 177.

Address: 177 Kloof St, Gardens

Hours: 12pm-10:30pm Mon-Sun

Bacini’s has a laid-back charm and it is perhaps for this very reason that Capetonians are still strolling through their doors to indulge in some hearty Italian cuisine.

The option to “veganise” pizzas on their menu isn’t new, they just haven’t been shouting about it. You can either change-up an existing pizza or create your own. Their regular bases aren’t vegan so you have to request a vegan base (R35) as well as the vegan cheese (+R36 for vegan mozzarella or +R40 for vegan buffalo mozzarella). They deduct the cost of dairy cheese if ordering an existing pizza from the menu. It can end up being a touch pricey with all of the add-ons so just bear that in mind.

However, if pizza isn’t your thing then fear not!  The Vegano Salad is a carb-friendly option bursting with colour and flavour.

Napoletana Penne is the vegan pasta option and ordering this, be sure to specify the gluten-free penne (+R25) which is vegan.

Even dessert is covered with Vegano Gelato (R55).

Grab a table on the veranda if the weather is good and take in the view of Lions Head. A great spot to kill an hour or two with family or friends.

Also make sure to check out the Bacini’s Summer Sunday:
