Wildsprout, situated in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, is a gorgeous café with a fantastic plant-based selection. And now, there are three additional menu items that were recently added.
Bae and I were treated to a visit and left thoroughly satisfied.
The “vegan blt” on sourdough (R88) – tofu bacon, lettuce, tomato & vegan cream cheese with a mustard vinaigrette
The “salmon & cream cheese” on sourdough (R88) – vegan carrot salmon with vegan cream cheese & cucumber. We suggested to the manager that it could do with an extra slice of sourdough to bulk it up a tad more, but it was delicious nevertheless!
And, of course, no café-style lunch is complete with a kick of caffeine, so I ordered the “coconut vanilla & coffee shake” (R70) – vanilla & cashew nice-cream with a double shot espresso & cacao drizzle. The vanilla & cashew wasn’t so much “nice-cream” as it was milky, which was probably due to the hot espresso melting it very quickly, but it was delicious, nevertheless, if not a bit pricey. Bae settled for an oat milk “flat white”.
The remaining menu item, which we will have to go back to try, was the “vegan breakfast croissant” (R105) – a vegan croissant with tofu scramble, roasted rosa tomatoes, grilled mushrooms & avo (seasonal). Sounds divine!
Wildsprout is great for a weekend breakfast brunch, as a meeting spot, or even just a respite from the crazy world outside.
